Kairomancy and Kismet
From early May
A few weeks ago I came across a TikTok video about kairomancy and the book Sidewalk Oracles by Robert Moss. It sounded like my friend Mandy's Secret Messages so I started to pay more attention to when things seemed to be telling me something. I haven't noticed any more Secret Messages than usual but I have experienced a sense of peace and playfulness that I haven't had in quite some time.
I had another chance of Do It Scared, going on a Full Moon bike ride downtown. It was in the same area as my friend's art show, so I thought parking would be pretty easy. Not so. Friday night at 8pm with some event going on at the Arena, the street parking was packed. I'm not familiar with the parking garages, which ones are public and which are private so I headed back to the interstate to go home. I felt so defeated. I thought of going to ride at my usual spot since it was dusk and I want to get used to riding in low light but my energy was low. I couldn't muster the enthusiasm when I was berating myself for wasting money for the event, wasting gas driving downtown and back, and wasting time on something with nothing to show for it. After getting home, watching Bob's Burgers, and eating whatever chocolate I could find, I journaled about the experience and my feelings and felt better. Not great, but not on the edge of a depression spiral.
I did ride my bike to Bike Fest and completed a route that I had to give up on last year when I tried. I'm remembering that a fail doesn't mean I can't do it. I just can't do it at that time. Kairomancy is about perfect or optimal timing. Things happen when they're supposed to happen. Plans and schedules are Chronos time. I used to run payroll on a system called Chronos. It was very precise and had to be done in a specific way.
